Scion 'Storefront' Showroom |
|

Project: Scion Showroom
Location: worldwide
Description: Customer Experience Environment
Client: Scion
The Scion "Storefront" Showroom concept is open in every sense of the word - it feels spacious and unconfined while designed to be open to customization over time. The showroom is a kit of parts and options that is flexible, modular, and easy to customize. The components are as follows:
The 'platform' is raised up slightly to separate the scion environment from the larger dealership, with l.e.d. 'ground effects' lighting to emphasize this fact. The platform is an engineered, modular construction that is demountable, reconfigurable, and houses wiring, lighting and other utilities. The platform surface is general issue scion ardesia gray tile with optional vinyl graphics.
The 'backdrop' provides a strong visual limit for the scion environment as well as surfaces for lifestyle graphics, multimedia and branding. The backdrop is constructed of modular sections that are fastened together on site. Each section houses space for wiring, lighting, storage and/or multimedia (screens or projectors). The backdrop surface is a durable, inexpensive plastic laminate - a range of which would be available for customization by the dealer along with removable seat pads.
The 'service station' is a free-standing kiosk mounted on to the platform. The service station provides information and entertainment to guests and can be fitted with: backlit lifestyle graphics, multimedia screen for video or games, or a computer for the "build your scion" web function. The service station includes overhead lighting and a display case.
The 'storefront' is a transparent surface that: is the primary identity for the scion environment, displaying branding and constantly changing graphics for exhibition or promotion, and a menu board of options where customers can get information, specifications and prices, and see all of the color and component options available while visually superimposing them on to a display vehicle. For dealerships where space does not permit a display vehicle, a full-size graphic can be applied or projected onto the glass. Customers can change the color and options of the projection making it a full-size, "build your scion" kiosk. The storefront is composed of tempered glass panels and glass display case secured to the platform and braced by extruded aluminum 'street lights'. The glass is subtly polarized so that it is transparent from the outside, but inside is more reflective to provide a more defined sense of 'place' within the scion environment.
