Libsa Lofts

Project: Libsa Lofts
Location: Madrid, Spain
Description: Live/work lofts
Client: King Sturge

The Libsa Loft project involves the adaptive reuse of a 16,000sf industrial building and 42,000sf of new construction. The project is for international developer King Sturge and is located on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain.

As a speculative development, the Libsa project is a PROTOTYPE for the adaptive reuse of the numerous industrial sites that dot the perimeter of large urban centers in Spain. The client is interested in exploring various programs for the site and has adopted a very flexible position relative to the final building use. The architecture responds to this programmatic instability with a conscious exploration of POLYVALENCE in the form, expression and configurations for use. The unit distribution, configurations and signification consciously explore the nuances between working and living. The architecture rehearses the inevitability of INSTABILITY and MUTABILITY.

The project was completed in collaboration with MASS. MASS is a design collaboration between JASON KING ASSOCIATES, two-n, and MoreMas.
